What is an SLS and why should we avoid Shampoo's with it?

Posted by 1 on

SLS stand for Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. This the chemical agent that causes the foaming in most shampoos. But it is also an irritant and is used in some products to de-grease factory floors, so there is now wonder that it irritates the scalp. But is the foam all that important? Well its not actually the bubbles that clean your hair its the Surfacants which are normally organic. So if we replace the SLS's with a more gentle foaming agent such as Decyl polyglucose you will get slightly less foam or bubbles but a more gentle cleansing experience that does not irritate the scalp. Which is why we are pleased to introduce our range of Natural shampoo's with organic herbs. There are no SLS's only mild natural surfacents such as Sodium PEG-7 (made from Olive Oil) and Decyl Glucoside (made from sugar) for a really mild wash that is sensitive to the scalp whilst giving natural foam.
