What is a spiraliser?

Posted by Lorraine Cheney on

I was looking at a friends comments on a Facebook post about vegetables and someone said, I’m thinking about going vegetarian, “I must buy a spiraliser”. It’s not often you hear something and have no idea what it means. I did what anyone does these days… I Googled it. I was most impressed with the recipes I was finding.

What is a spiraliser??

For those of you who don’t know what a spiraliser is here is a quick explanation. The spiraliser is a device that spins and using it’s cutters creates different shapes from your raw vegetables. A spiraliser is most commonly used to create spaghetti shaped noodles from hard vegetables like beetroot, courgette, sweet potatoes, carrots or squashes. These raw noodles are then used as the base for your meal. You can create Italian, Indian, Mexican or any creation of tastes that you like to produce a wonderful low carb meal.

I am always on the look out for new ideas and way to use our Organic Veg Box left overs. This is ideal, even the children were getting excited about vegetable curly fries.

There UK High Street doesn’t appear sell Spiralisers so I have opted to buy one here. http://www.ukjuicers.com/spiralizers I can’t wait for it’s arrival.

Here are just a few recipes that I found below:

Sweet Potatoe Curly Fries Veggie Wrap
Miso Roasted Tomatoes and Carrot Noodles
SPARKLING CIDER GLAZED ROASTED BEET NOODLES WITH CRISPY SHALLOTS
PESTO TURKEY & BEET RICE LETTUCE WRAPS

Let me know if you try any of them.
